Ahoy! Summertime means boating season, and there is perhaps no better place to sport nautical fashion than from the deck of a yacht or sailboat. Have a stylish sail during Seattle Seafair or your next excursion on the water with these boating fashion tips. Keep in mind: you may get splashed!
Light weight, long sleeve shirt. Feel the sun on your skin without getting burned with a quarter-length or long-sleeved tee. A comfortable top will allow you to move about the deck with ease and assist the captain if necessary. Go nautical with a blue or red striped top, the traditional uniform of sailors.
Boat shoes. This footwear for men and women is stylish yet functional for moving about the slippery deck. Boat shoes are sturdily built to give a firm foothold while aboard that won’t scuff the surface. With plenty of colors and patterns to choose from, boat shoes complete the nautical look.
Comfortable shorts. Wear shorts that will show off those boat shoes and keep you comfortable aboard. For ladies, we recommend Bermuda shorts that hit at the knee to keep the look sophisticated and classic. The shorts / long sleeve shirt combo is a chic summertime outfit that will let you bask in the sun without the burn.
Sunglasses. Squinting is no fun. Protect your eyes from sunrays while rounding off your fashion sense with a pair of sunglasses. We recommend Randolph sunglasses—available at Jack Jerome!
Sweater. A button- or zip-up sweater will come in handy during windy parts of the ride and in the evening for sunset cruises. No matter how hot it is, you’ll be happy you have an extra layer aboard.
Swimsuit. Planning to get wet? Wear a swimsuit as your undergarment and you’ll be ready to take a dip at a moment’s notice!
